Well let’s see. Jeanie should win hands down! I mean come on, and just look at the facts! Jeanie is much more powerful than Samantha, and much more beloved by her fans! I wish I could be Jeanie! That blinking thing would be a lot more fun than nose twitching!

  2. David says:

Well said! I just wish I could convince my brother of that fact. Long live Jeannie!

  3. Nathaniel says:

I Like Samantha and Jeannie but Samantha came on a year before Jeannie so Samantha

  4. Steve says:

Hands down Jeannie! Being born in 1970, and watching episode after episode, Jeanie was the best action video that I was allowed to watch! What a turn on to say the least! Jeannie ROCKS!!!

  5. Boo-bari says:

Come on!!! As much as I love Jeannie, (and her AWESOME bottle) she was stuck in that bottle for 2000 years totally incapable of freeing herself!! That could never happen to Samantha. Jeannie also is controlled by her master, which Samantha would never put up with! Samantha wins…Long Live Samantha!!!!!!

  6. Larry says:

Nick at Nite held this contest in the mid 90′s and the viewers voted for Samantha hands down.

  7. arfies says:

Samantha all the way. She had actual INTELLIGENCE on her side as opposed to Jeannie’s childish temper tantrums. Even if Jeannie somehow did incapacitate her, Samantha proved many times she could outsmart others even without her powers- she’d just talk her way out of whatever situation she was in, grab the bottle, and win.

BTW, that last paragraph was rather tasteless, not to mention irrelevant- Elizabeth Montgomery was cremated, not buried.

  8. Mary says:

Samantha would win hands down. She doesn’t have anyone controlling her like jeanie.

About that last paragraph Elizabeth Montgomery didn’t choose to die nsje has cancer and any way she was cremated.

  9. David says:

Oh! Didn’t realize she had been cremated. I guess that makes my last paragraph unnecessary (and a little tasteless). Sorry, Sam! I really do love your show!

  10. Jan says:

It’s hard to say, on the one hand Samantha was smarter than Jeannie, so she might win because of her wit. However I think Jeannie was overall MORE powerful and faster. Samantha had to recite LONG incantations *and every word had to be right or else it would fail, she had to mix potions and every ingredient had to be right. Endora had to wave her arms. Where as ALL Jeannie had to do was BLINK. I think there would be more conflict between Jeannie and Endora and while Endora is going through the waving her arms and incanting, Jeannie could just blink her to the moon. So really I’d have to say Jeannie.

  11. Jan says:

And about Samantha controlling the bottle. It’s obvious that Genies do NOT have to be obedient totheir masters, after all the Blue Djinn was gonna kill Tony, and stated that he would have been his slave had he opened the bottle a hundred years earlier, so obviously they can pick and choose like it’s some moral obligation. On the other hand the Blue Djinn DID zap Jeannie into her bottle.

  12. Miranda says:

Jeannie. Iv seen th re-runs in tvland and frm wit iv seen Samantha’s process tuk a lot longer than Jeannie’s did she blinked and u had it but with Samantha she had to say spells and stuf

  13. Sehena says:

Oh please. There is no competition! As much as I love magical shows, I’ve always been a more solid fan of Jeannie. Even going so far as to dress up as her for Halloween one year. Jeannie would win hands down! She’s more popular than Samantha. She’s more powerful than Samantha.

  14. Jo says:

I don’t know. Jeannie is really funny but Samantha has way more power. Samantha can master all elements of magic and Jeannie can’t bring Major Nelson back. Sorry Jeannie, but Sam wins.

  15. Dee says:

    Bewitched, Samantha…hands down.

  16. Dee says:

Jeannie was a johnny come late, she was knock-off of Samantha…put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I also recall the Nick @ Nite contest between Samantha Stephens and Jeannie. The Nose against the Nod. Samantha won by a landslide. You may not take my word for it; look it up on any search engine. Also, facts do not lie. Shall we look at the shows ratings? Jeannie NEVER broke into the top 25, while Bewitched was #2 the first year it ran. The first 5 years Bewitched was in the Top 12 tv shows. Again, Jeannie NEVER broke into the Top 25. Her ratings pale in comparison to Bewitched. It really is sort of silly comparing the two shows. Bewitched earning Emmys; but Jeannie never did. America has spoken: Samantha Stephens has won and will continue to win over Jeannie. Elizabeth Montgomery was never jealous of Barbara Eden, but you can not say that about Barbara. Read TV Radio Mirror magazines from the 60′s and you will educate yourself on how Barbara Eden acted so immature and childish in the dressing rooms on the lot. Sally Field, Liz Montgomery and Barbara Eden shared a common area in the 60′s as their respective shows were filmed. Sally and Liz have gone on record of Barbara Eden’s antics, temper and childlike behavior. Sally and Liz couldn’t stand her immature ways and usually would not bother to engage in conversation with Barbara as she would complain about the stupidest things. It is no wonder that IDoJ was only on the air for 5 years with that type of immaturity. Also, ABC wanted Bewitched to sign on for more years, but Liz was finished and ready to move on to something else. All in all, Bewitched was a completely better hit tv show than IDoJ. Again, check the ratings. Long Live Queen Samantha Stephens!!!

Hello! (My Website isn’t completed yet!) #00: I equally love both shows, but sex fetish wise, Jeannie’s two shades of pink harem costume is my preference over Samantha’s black witch costume. I also love brunette Jeannie’s shades of green costume, and blonde Jeannie’s white costume. Point: Jeannie. #01: Both are sexy blondes, but I prefer Jeannie’s hairstyle when she wears her harem outfit. Point: Jeannie. #02: When it came time to reboot “Bewitched” with a theatrical movie, the producer Nora, couldn’t even imagine doing so without imagining a world where the original TV series didn’t exist! It had to be acknowledged! Whereas Jeannie, even though she did appear in “I Dream of Jeannie: 15 Years Later” & “I Still Dream of Jeannie”, they were made for TV. She did cameo in one of the “Brady Bunch” theatrical movies though. But her last know appearance, AFAIK, was in a “Jeep Wrangler” commercial on TV. Point: TIE! #03: I never saw any of the CHARMED ONES dressed up as Samantha, but Phoebe did dress up in a blue version of Jeannie! Point: Jeannie. #04: However Willow, Tara, etc., never dressed up as either! Point: TIE! #05: Animated Samantha & Darrin, from the opening credits, became guests in an episode of “The Flintstones”. Animated Jeannie & Tony from their opening credits didn’t appear anywhere! (Uh, but the way they do things over at “The Family Guy”, and as I’ve not seen every episode of that, well…) Point: Samantha! #06: Jeannie did get an animated cartoon “cousin”, (or so I recall reading/hearing somewhere) with red hair in the “Jeannie” TV series though! I loved that one too! Point: Jeannie. #07: For “Immortals” Samantha’s parents looked old! (What’s up with that?! Why be immortal if you age?) While Jeannie’s mother looked like her daughters, hair color aside! (Original actress in the role not withstanding.) Point: Jeannie. #08: I don’t play “Fantasy Football”, instead I have a “Fantasy Harem”. Jeannie and her brunette sister are in mine. Lisa Hartman’s “Tabitha”, Liberty Williams’s “Tabatha”, and “Pandora Spocks” as “Serena” are also in it. Samantha herself can’t be, because as far as I’m concerned, she and Darrin are still together. Point: TIE. #09: The number of recasts on Jeannie’s show, including husbands, is shorter than for Samantha’s. Point: Jeannie. #10: They couldn’t keep track if it was “Tabatha” or “Tabitha” and whether or not Adam had powers too, for awhile. Point: Jeannie. #11: Larry Hagman gets to be a dream character three times over! Once for “Dallas”, once for “IDOJ”, and finally for “St. Elsewhere”. (Granted that for “Dallas” he isn’t “Tony Nelson”.) Point: Samantha. #12: Jeannie, eventually becomes no longer married to Tony! Samantha, the last we officially saw and heard, were still together! Point: Samantha. #13: Jeannie and Samantha both have children eventually. Samantha a son and a daughter, Jeannie just the one son. Point: Samantha. #14: But that’s all not as much as this! Who’s more fictional than the other? I dare say that counts the most! Due to crossovers with other series/movies, Jeannie’s series was just part of a dream series that Bill Daily’s character “Howard Borden” from the second version of “The Bob Newhart Show”, just as the entire series “Newhart” ended up being just a dream of, “Dr. Robert Hartley”! Then due to a very long string of other crossover connections, “The Bob Newhart Show” along with all of those others, is part of the autistic fantasy world of the boy from the series finale of “St. Elsewhere”! (Until they make another “X-Files” movie, the last remaining vestige of that huge crossover block is, “Law & Order: SVU”!) Whereas, with Samantha… that didn’t happen to her! Point: Samantha! #15: This may cause pain for some people, but the Overall Winner is, Samantha! Why? “Bewitched” begat “Tabatha”/”Tabitha” of course. However it was “Doctor Bombay” who made the crossover appearance on “Passions”! Then “Passions” crossed over with “Las Vegas”. Also linked to “Las Vegas” are: “Medium”, “Crossing Jordan”, “The Office” and thus indirectly the UK original edition of, “The Office”, “Dalton’s Code of Vengeance”, “Heroes”, and the entire “Knight Rider” franchise! Now if “CBS” wants to consider this character’s crossover canon now, “Jackson Roykirk”, a character created for the “Star Trek” episode, “The Changeling”, also appeared, but much younger, in the “Team Knight Rider” episode, “Apocalypse Maybe”! Now should that ever be counted as “canon” by the “Official Star Trek Canon Policy” of “CBS”, the new owners of that franchise, then Samantha’s Universe still exists, as they plant to make more “Star Trek” movies if not another series! Whereas, poor Jeannie’s Universe, even the commercial for “JEEP”, is just part of a dream within a fantasy world! Overall Winner: Samantha Stephens!

Hi again! #00: I’m sorry for the double post, if this is one, but I wanted to apologize for the length of my previous post! I couldn’t tell as I wrote it, how long it would end up being! #01: Correction notice! “Dalton’s Code of Vengeance” was a spin-off of “Knight Rider”, so it indirectly connects to “Las Vegas”. Plus, “The Office” is still on, though for how much longer now that Michael is gone, I don’t know, and it could still crossover with, say, uh, “Parks & Recreation” or another “NBC” series. #02: Now that I’ve established whose universe is more fictional than the others, this can be written. The showdown could happen this way: Little Tabitha is watching an episode of “I Dream of Jeannie”. She just happens to notice how similar Tony’s neighborhood is to her own and so she wants to visit and compare, or maybe she simply wants to meet Jeannie who is so much like her mommy. For whatever motive, she goes into the TV-set just like she did her storybooks and Samantha finds out and has to go retrieve her daughter! Or much like Wyatt did with a dragon on “Charmed”, Little Tabitha brings Jeannie out of the TV-set to play with her, and Samantha then has to deal with the consequences! Ta-dah!

  20. Silver Warlock says:

Let’s drop all the emotional sentiment here. I watched a lot more Jeannie as a kid than Bewitched. Jeannie was usually cuter and Larry Hagman was a lot funnier than either of the Darrins, but the fact of the matter is that Jeannie would be ridiculously easy to beat. She doesn’t need to be corked in her bottle. Any enclosure renders her helpless and it doesn’t even have to be airtight. Remember in “The Strongest Man in the World,” she was stuck inside a storage cabinet. She couldn’t even blink up a crowbar or a car jack to get herself free. Tony trapped the Blue Djinn inside a vacuum cleaner by stuffing a rag in the hose, and the Djinn was, as Jeannie herself said in that episode, “the most powerful of us all!”

  21. Anne says:

Jeannie wins big time. I know it doesn’t matter in this case but she was far more beautiful than Samantha and of course her bod was something to kill for. Marilyn Monroe would’ve had a run for her money against Barbara Eden. But when it comes to power, Jeannie is by far more powerful than Samantha. It took Samantha ages to get something magical done while Jeannie simply blinked and KA-BOOM, you were in trouble. Also, Samantha was a kind of woman that always bowed down to this ugly guy Darrin while Jeannie was a handful for Tony. She called him Master, yes, but there was no doubt about who was the real Master in the show. Jeannie is on air now for almost 5 decades, almost as hip as in the 60s with Barbara Eden still being loved and recognized for her performance as Jeannie all over the world. I loved and watched both shows but when it comes to power, beauty and deciding who was the better magician/woman it’s definitely Jeannie!!!!
